Road Trip to Mississippi Old River Control Structure

We'll visit the largest river control structure on Earth. Old River Control Structure manages the interaction of multiple tributary and distributary connections of the Mississippi River near Simmesport, Louisiana. This complex was initially constructed after the Great River Flood of 1927, and later reworked after the flood of 1973 which is widely known to have almost caused failure of this waterworks system. We'll visit the Shipping Locks, the Vidalia Power Plant, lower and upper control structures and the older structure. Basic Location Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_River_Control_Structure
